Blue Ridge Parkway – Adventure Awaits!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is America’s longest linear park, meaning that it is longer than it is wide. It also closely travels along the border between Albemarle County and Augusta County near the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along almost all of the Parkway, you will be greeted by scenic views, wildlife, and cooler temperatures. The entrance to the Parkway is only 30 minutes from Charlottesville. The activities you can find are almost limitless from hiking to camping to cycling to RVing to motorcycling to photography to birdwatching. Many stops along the way also offer adventure activities such as rock climbing, ziplining, and rafting.
The Parkway offers 469 miles of adventure for you to experience. It runs from Cherokee, NC to Waynesboro, VA and provides more scenic views than you can probably count. Some of the iconic views can be at:
- Roanoke Valley Overlook
- Peaks of Otter
- Ravens Roost
- Humpback Rock
- Rockfish Gap
The northern part of the Parkway also puts you within minutes of Wintergreen Resort, one of the best ski resorts on the east coast. The Parkway also puts you somewhat close to the Appalachian Trail at times.
